About Us
about us:
In 1982
we started our search for our ideal Bullmastiff. After months of
observing dog shows and talking to breeders across the U.S.A., we
purchased our first Bullmastiff in 1983. We began showing and breeding
under the "Little English Kennel" name, later changing it to
"Barb'Eric".
We
produced our first champion out of our first litter in 1985. To date we
have produced over 100 champions, many of which are dual titled --
American, Canadian, International and National Champions, as well as
group placers in Canada and the U.S.
Our
puppies are home raised, right in our kitchen and handled constantly
from birth. All breeding stock not only has to prove themselves in the
show ring, but also must pass OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals)
certification, preliminary x-rays or Pen-Hip on their hips. We also
x-ray elbows and have eyes examined. Every
breeding age dog is examined by a Cardiologist and heart certified.
There is rising concern among many breeders in our Bullmastiff
community regarding heart problems in our breed leading to early
deaths. Before our puppies leave here at 8-10 weeks of age they are
examined by our GP veterinarian and micro chipped. Then they make the
trip to Seattle and are examined by a Cardiologist for any heart
abnormalities and receive their clearance for heart. Our puppies all
sell with a hip guarantee and an open door policy to return home to us
at any time in their life.
Our years
of success in the show ring as well as our reputation for producing
loving family Bullmastiffs - sound in mind as well as in body - speaks
for itself. If you are interested in any references, please contact us
and we will be happy to supply them.
If you
decide a Bullmastiff is your new family member of choice, select your
breeder wisely. Over the next few years they will be your educator and
resource for all your questions. Find a breeder you feel comfortable
communicating with who will help you with your concerns.
Good Luck
in your search for a new family companion.
